“Food systems cannot be resilient to crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic if they are not sustainable”; a sentiment we fully agree with. These words kick-start the EU’s new Farm to Fork Strategy which aims to accelerate a transition to a sustainable food system. Focusing on how to make food systems fair, healthy and environmentally friendly, this strategy sits at the heart of the European Green Deal and follows the recent publication of the EU’s Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. The Farm to Fork strategy highlights how putting our food systems on a sustainable path also brings new opportunities for operators in the food value chain. New technologies and scientific discoveries, combined with increasing public awareness and demand for sustainable food, will benefit stakeholders throughout the food system.
