A bit of good news!

The Hong Kong Government has announced the following social distancing measures for restaurants/caterers and bars which will come into effect starting 00:00 11th September until 17th September 2020.

Here is the summary below:

Restaurants/Caterers:

The number of people allowed to be seated together has been relaxed from two to four in catering businesses, however:

1) All restaurants must be at 50% capacity
2) No more than 4 people may sit at a table
3) There must be a distance of 1.5m between tables or a partition may be used to separate tables
4) After 10pm, restaurants are only allowed to offer takeaway services

Bars/pubs
1) Bars and pubs that mainly sell alcohol must be closed

Catering Business

The relevant requirements include:

(a) The number of customers at any catering premises at any one time must not exceed 50% of the normal seating capacity of the premises.
(b) No more than four persons may be seated together at one table within any catering premises;
(c) Tables available for use or being used by customers within any catering premises must be arranged in a way to ensure there is a distance of at least 1.5 metres or a partition which could serve as an effective buffer between one table and another table at the premises
(d) Any premises (commonly known as bar or pub) that is exclusively or mainly used for the sale or supply of intoxicating liquors must be closed
(e) any part of a catering premises that is exclusively or mainly used for the sale or supply of intoxicating liquors for consumption in that part must be closed
(f)  Extend the hours of dine-in services for catering businesses to 10pm and maintain other infection control measures.
