Agriculture can play a major role in mitigating climate change as one serious issue is that we are losing soil due to poor land management practices. New research in Germany suggests that the rate of plant decomposition, a key process in cycling and distributing nutrients throughout ecosystems, will reduce due to the warmer, drier conditions expected with climate change. Additionally, soil pollution is one of the main threats to soil health, with human activity as the main source. United Nations Environment Assembly calls on Member States to take steps to address soil pollution. Read more here
